Racing Round Up – Week 13

6 April 2021

Comeback 5,000m

Opportunities to run 5,000m on the track have been few and far between in the UK for over a year now. So it was no surprise that the entries for Wednesdays Comeback 5,000m at Battersea Park were rumoured to sell out in under 15 minutes.

Two members of GGAC featured in the action: first up was James Share who recorded a new PB and smashed the 15 minute barrier despite being solo for large portions of the race. In the final race of the evening, Hannah Irwin also found herself running solo for much of the race and came agonisingly close to the sub-16 barrier. Irrespective, this performance was a whopping 23 second PB whilst finishing second in the elite womens race.

Great racing by all who took part and best of all it was all broadcast live online. Great to see our runners in great shape so early in the season with so much racing still to come.

Hannah – 16:01.29

James – 14:53.32
